OVERVIEW
What he is
Y'Nigel de las Flores is a dark brindle male from the Dusty (Marquez) × Zoe (Kaida) breeding. He was the first-pick male from the Y-Litter for a reason. Nigel combines balanced drives, strong discernment, environmental stability, and real-world usefulness in a package that never needs theatrics to be taken seriously.
His day job was not symbolic work. Nigel served as an oil pipeline protector in North Dakota, helping keep roughnecks safe from predators in the field. On weekends, he trained in PSA. He is serious when needed, but off duty he becomes exactly what the best utility dogs often are: a devoted companion and a best friend.
He is the kind of male that naturally commands respect without being excessive in any one trait. His intensity is present where it should be, measured where it must be, and always anchored by a clear head.

TEMPERAMENT
Nigel is well rounded and clear headed. He can distinguish a real threat from a non-threat with confidence and clarity. He is a man’s dog in the best sense of the phrase: loyal, devoted, serious when it matters, and carrying a heart of gold inside a foreboding presence.
He is affectionate with those he trusts, funny when the moment allows it, and deeply perceptive. The balance in him is what makes him remarkable. Nothing about him feels forced or overdone.
ENVIRONMENT
Nigel is rock solid in all environments. He is as stable protecting a crew in the field as he is lying at his owner’s feet during a meeting. He travels well, settles without fuss, and carries himself with the kind of confidence that people immediately notice and respect.
DAY TO DAY
Nigel excelled in ordinary work life as much as formal training. He rode in the truck without issue, kept watch over the crew from the flatbed like a lion surveying his kingdom, and made sure wolves or other wandering predators never got too close.
When the workday ended, he shifted cleanly back into companion mode, greeting the men at pack-up with the same steady presence that had protected them all day.
WHY HE MATTERS
Nigel is a true heart dog. Intelligent, quick to understand, curious about the world around him, deeply affectionate with those he trusts, and absolutely serious when something is his to protect. All of those traits live together in one balanced, steady dog.
Stephen Hammill did an outstanding job with Nigel, and the plan was always to use him in the breeding program. After Stephen’s death due to cancer, that plan could easily have been lost. Instead, Stephen's sister, Krystal, chose to honor the agreement. For that, we are deeply grateful.
Nigel remains exactly the kind of male we strive to produce and preserve.
