OVERVIEW
What he is
Dusty, call name Marquez, is a gold brindle male whose working career reflects real substance across all three phases. He earned IGP3 and FCI-FH, distinguished himself through exceptional scenting ability, and brought authentic pressure and seriousness to protection work.
In tracking, Marquez showed extremely strong scenting ability and repeatedly scored in the excellent ranges. In obedience, he worked with willingness and intensity, though at times his exuberance cost points. In protection, he excelled. He could move from aggression to defense to prey and back to pack drive cleanly and without conflict.
Helpers who worked him consistently described the same dog: no fluff, no circus tricks, just raw power. That seriousness in work never came at the expense of clarity. Outside the training field, Marquez was stable, confident, and deeply loyal to his people.

TEMPERAMENT
Marquez is confident and sure of himself. In training and competition, he was fully committed and gave everything he had. Outside that environment, he was the easiest dog in the world to live with. He is loyal to his immediate family, affectionate in the home, and capable of switching instantly if something does not feel right.
He loves quiet family time as much as work. He is the kind of dog who will come over while people are watching television or sitting in the living room, wanting to be petted, close, and a little silly.
ENVIRONMENT
Marquez is an outstanding traveler and environmentally sound. Whether it was a short drive or a twelve-hour flight, he came out of the crate clear, composed, and ready to work. He is neutral with men and has always had a clear preference for the ladies.
RETIREMENT
Marquez retired from high-level competition due to a right front wrist injury. Even in retirement, he remains active and enthusiastic, especially around water. Swimming has always been one of his favorite activities, and even at nearly twelve years old he would still do far more of it than common sense would allow if given the chance.
Age has softened his routine, not his value. The workaholic edge that once drove him on the field has matured into the kind of earned comfort that lets him sleep on the bed near the computer, snore a little more than he used to, and enjoy the life he built.
BREEDER'S NOTES
When Les picked him up at LaGuardia, Marquez stepped out of the crate like he owned the world. That confidence never left him. He and Les hit it off immediately and went on to build the kind of partnership that only comes around once in a while.
When Les became very ill and was bedridden, Marquez stayed at Les' side and would wake him when his breathing changed. Later, when Marquez himself became critically sick, and we nearly lost him, that loyalty was returned in full. He miraculously recovered, and the bond between them was cemented for life.
Dogs like that do not just work or perform for you. They carry you when you can't carry yourself and become part of your soul. Marquez passed this "ride or die" trait on to his offspring and we are blessed to have him. ...Thank you, Elke.
Marquez is not simply a retired competition dog. He is one of the great dogs of this household and Kennel. He's family.
